The M&T Bank Women in Leadership & Business Academy at Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is a unique, comprehensive and dynamic business certificate program made possible with the support of M&T Bank. It has been created to introduce girls to a variety of career opportunities and support the entrepreneurial goals of students who wish to launch a business.
This certificate program will create a framework of exposure and solid introduction to business, including a sequence of coursework, an internship, involvement in a business club, local field trips and guest speakers as well as a culminating project.
To receive the certificate, students will be required to complete the following during their four years at SHA:
Four courses including Entrepreneurship, Accounting (1/2 year), Practical and Business Law (1/2 year), and an Internship (1/2 year).
Membership in the DECA business club offered at SHA is strongly encouraged.
Participation is the Business Academy Summer Experiences consisting of ten half-day visits to a variety of local businesses that have included Manzella Marketing, The Advantage Co., M&T Bank, Moog and Pegula Sports and Entertainment. (Summer before senior year)
Attendance at seminars and workshops on leadership, management and entrepreneurship.
Students who complete these requirements and achieve an 85% in each class (Law, Accounting, Entrepreneurship, and Internship) and will be presented with a certificate at the Baccalaureate Awards Ceremony.
