Admissions Process for the Class of 2027

Step 1 - Attend Open House on Sunday, October 16

Prospective girls and families in grades 6th, 7th and 8th are invited to Open House to tour the school, meet students, faculty and staff, and coaches, and see what Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart has to offer. Learn more about academics, signature programming, clubs and extracurricular activities, leadership and service opportunities, athletics, and much more. Open House is Sunday, October 16 from 9 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Pre-registration is encouraged but not required.  Missed Open House or cannot attend?  Please call the Admissions Office at 834-2101 ext 311 to arrange an individual tour.

Step 2 - Shadow Day

We welcome 8th grade girls to Shadow for a Day. Shadow days begin Monday, September 26.  Students will be paired with a ninth or tenth grade girl (either someone you request or who shares similar interests) and attend classes, go to lunch, meet faculty and staff, and learn more about being a SHA girl.  
Step 3 - Entrance Exam Prep Course, Saturdays - October 22, 29 and November 5

Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart will offer a study course designed to prepare eighth grade girls for the Catholic High School Entrance Examination. The course runs Saturday mornings, 9 am – 12 noon, October 22, 29 and November 5. Students will receive instruction and test taking strategies in English and Math.  The cost is $75 and includes the practice book.
 
Step 4 - Apply
Apply to Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart. 

CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL APPLICATION

Print out the confirmation email, sign and bring to your daughter’s guidance office. The guidance counselor will forward us the required documents (final report cards from 6th, 7th grades and first quarter grades from 8th grade, and past standardized testing, when available).  Students who select Sacred Heart Academy as their first choice will receive a confirmation of their application along with scholarship and financial aid information.  Students who select Sacred Heart as their second choice or third choice will also be considered for admission and must submit a letter of recommendation.

Step 5 - Take Entrance Exam on Saturday, November 19, 2022
All girls who select Sacred Heart as their first choice high school  on the Catholic High School Application (above) will take the High School Placement Test at SHA.  After November 19, 2022, Sacred Heart will offer the exam on an ongoing, individual basis.  
 
Step 6 - Apply for Scholarships and/or Financial Aid
Students who list Sacred Heart Academy as their first choice school will be eligible to apply for scholarships and/or financial aid.  Applications will be mailed to all first choice candidates.
 
Step 7 - Acceptance Letters Mailed
Students who take the Entrance Exam on November 19, 2022, will be mailed their Letters of Acceptance, along with scholarship & financial aid notification on January 19, 2023.  After January 20, 2023, new applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Step 8 - Enroll your Daughter 
Mail your $500 tuition deposit and enrollment forms to SHA by January 30, 2023, to confirm your daughter's spot as a member of the Class of 2027.   

Step 9 - Attend Registration
Register as a member of the Class of 2027.

  • Service and/or Leadership Camps - Summer 2023, optional
  • Freshwomen Fun Day - August 2023
  • Orientation - August 2023

What do we consider for acceptance into SHA?

Our overall goal is to have each student be successful at Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart. In order to achieve that, we consider the following for admission:
  • Scores from the High School Placement Test
  • Final grades from 6, 7 and 8 (1st quarter)
  • Past standardized testing
  • Letter of recommendation 
  •
