Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart senior, Victoria Franz, has been selected as a National Merit Semifinalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Victoria joins a nationwide pool of Semifinalists who represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors and include the highest-scoring entrants in each state. She is SHA’s third Semifinalist in as many years.
Over 1.6 million juniors in more than 22,000 high schools across the country entered the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
Victoria will have the opportunity to continue in the National Merit Scholarship Competition, which offers approximately 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million.
Over 90% of the National Merit Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist status. Each of Sacred Heart Academy’s previous Semifinalists went on to be named as Finalists. Notice of Finalist selection will be announced in April 2019.
In addition to Victoria’s stellar academic record, she is a six-time national qualifier in diving and is currently ranked 18th in the nation.
