Black History Month Celebration Highlights STEAM

The 2024 Black History Month theme was STEAM and SHA's student steering committee built a half-day celebration to showcase alumnae and friends of Sacred Heart who are making significant contributions locally and nationally. The day started with a full community prayer service featuring Moe Badger ( "the Singing Cop" and father of Brooke '25) leading our BHM girls' choir in a moving rendition of "Lift Every Voice and Sing."
The prayer service was followed by four sessions which the classes rotated through. Sessions featured:
  • A Panel Discussion with three esteemed panelists: Dr. Willa Arnet (mother of Ariel June '18); Honorable Tiffany Perry (sister to Elise Thomas '24 and Naisha Thomas '25) and SaMari Hall '18
  • Original research talks by Jazmine Richardson '18, Natasha Taylor '25, and Hailee Johnson '24
  • Black History Jeopardy Game designed by Blessing Domaka '24
  • African American Cultural Center Drum and Dance (Executive Director Leah Daniels, mother of Legend Manuel '27)
