Two Seniors Honored as All-WNY Scholar Athletes

Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is proud to announce that the following students have been named All-WNY Scholar Athletes for the

Winter 2017-2018 season by Section VI of the NYSPHSAA:  Kayla Blas (Ice Hockey) and Aoife Scannell (Basketball).  Congratulations!

To be eligible, students must be seniors, maintain an overall grade point average of 90 or above for six semesters, and start or serve as an important reserve for their respective team.

SHA's Scholar-Athlete Winners


  • Kayla Blas, a three-sport athlete and Student Council officer, was named to the All Federation First Team for Hockey.  She is a repeat All-WNY Scholar Athlete winner.  Kayla is the first SHA field hockey player to sign with a Division I school and will attend Northwestern University next year.


  • Aoife Scannell is also a three-sport athlete and Student Council officer.  In addition to basketball, she also plays soccer in the fall and lacrosse in the spring.  Aoife  was named  Honorable Mention in the fall for soccer.
