Jena Abati Recognized for her Outstanding Vocal Talents

At the March 14th Young Artists competition sponsored by the Rochester Philharmonic League, Sacred Heart senior Jena Abati was the winner of the Tessa Martin Award for Female Vocalists as well as the Jan DeGaetani Scholarship for Vocalists.  The college of Jena's choice will receive $500 for the Award and $1000 for the Scholarship.  

The Young Artist Auditions have awarded prizes to high school students for over 50 years.   This year students from nine NY counties participated in 5 award categories: strings, male vocal, female vocal, instrumental, and piano.  Only two scholarships were awarded: one to SHA student Jena Abati for voice and one to Clarence HS pianist Joseph Mohan.

Jena is a member of SHA's elite Chamber Singers.  Her private voice coach is Cecile Saine.
