Two Seniors Honored as All-WNY Scholar Athletes

Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is proud to announce that the following students have been named All-WNY Scholar Athletes for the

Fall 2017 season by Section VI of the NYSPHSAA:  Kayla Blas (Field Hockey) and Claire Mastrandrea (Swimming).  Congratulations!

To be eligible, students must be seniors, maintain an overall grade point average of 90 or above for six semesters, and start or serve as an important reserve for their respective team.

SHA's Scholar-Athlete Winners


  • Kayla Blas, a three-sport athlete and student leader, is the first SHA field hockey player to sign with a Division I school.  She will attend Northwestern University next year. 


  • Claire Mastrandrea, co-captain of the swim team, helped her team capture their second All Catholic and League championships.  She has represented SHA at the Swim States for two years in a row and was on the 200 IM relay team that set a new school record this season
