Scholar Athletes of the Year for 2016-17

The Scholar Athlete of the Year awards were announced at the Sharks' Sports Night on May 31.  All four winners have GPAs near the top of their class, participated in two sports this year, and made significant contributions to their teams.  They are experts at balancing the demands of the classroom with those of their chosen sports.

  • Freshwoman Anna Glodzik was an important reserve on the JV A Basketball team and really made her mark this spring on the Track team.  In just her first year, she helped set a new school record in the 4 x 400 relay and earned a trip to NYC to compete at the Catholic States.  Congratulations, Anna!

  • Sophomore Claire Hejaily ran varsity on the Cross Country team in the fall and earned All Catholic Second Team honors for the 2nd year in a row.  She is a starting outfielder for Varsity Softball in the spring and is a steady presence on that team.  Congratulations, Claire!

  • Junior Claire Mastrandrea swims in the fall and runs in the spring.  She won 3 golds at the All Catholic Meet and swam in two events at States.  She is part of the 200 IM relay team that hold the school record.  At the track All Catholics she medaled in the 800 and 1500.  Congratulations, Claire!

  • Senior Claire Zwack has been a member of Varsity Soccer and Track all four years.  Part of the soccer team’s success over the past four years was due in part to her play as a defender.  On track she is a consistent performer in the 200 and 400 distances.  Congratulations, Claire!
