Mission & Philosophy
Educating young women according to our mission
and philosophy is something we take very seriously. Our challenging,
yet supportive academic structure, our commitment to individual
leadership development, and the integration of community service
into our school-wide curriculum are just a few ways in which
the Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart works to enrich the
lives of young women and enhance the future of our greater
community.
Vision Statement
EMPOWERING YOUNG WOMEN THROUGH EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION
Mission:
The Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart is a community
committed to providing young women with a comprehensive,
balanced and challenging Catholic education rooted in the
core values of the Franciscan tradition. We are committed
to graduating young women with the intellectual preparedness,
spiritual grounding, a deep commitment to service, and the
leadership skills necessary to have a positive impact on
the world.
Philosophy:
As an academy with a long history, we work hard to learn
from and respect the past, attend to and respond to the
present, and work in hope for the future. It is this commitment
to both our heritage and our future that enables us to understand
that each student enrolled at SHA is a unique and important
person and that every facet of her life -- spiritual, emotional,
intellectual, social, and physical should be developed to
the greatest extent possible.
Believing that all life comes from God and that Jesus Christ
provides us with a model of personal growth, at SHA we attempt
to provide both the atmosphere and experiences needed to
encourage each student to develop as a responsible, educated,
Christian woman. Additionally, we seek to help each individual
develop as a thinking, caring person who respects all life
and has the desire and ability to contribute constructively
to the growth of other persons.
SHA is about developing each girl's SPIRIT. MIND. BODY.
