Applying to SHA
Students who are interested
in attending Sacred Heart Academy need to apply for admissions
early in the fall semester of eighth grade. It is recommended
that applications be submitted to the Admissions Office
by November 1st in order to ensure that the application
materials are received and reviewed in time for the student
to take the Admissions
Exam later in November. See section on Admissions
Exam for more information.
The Diocesan application form is available
at area Catholic elementary schools or from the Sacred Heart
Academy admissions office. However, you can also fill out
our on-line Information
Request form and an application will be sent to you
in the mail.
All prospective students are required
to take the Admissions Exam prior to acceptance at Buffalo
Academy of the Sacred Heart. The exam is a standard entrance
proficiency test and it usually given on the third Saturday
in November (and again in early January for late registrants).
Additionally, only students who complete the exam at SHA
are eligible for Sacred Heart Academy scholarships.
Eighth grade students who apply to Sacred
Heart Academy after the Admission Exam has been given in
November will be required to take the exam when it is offered
in early January. Unfortunately, scholarships are generally
not available for late registrants.
SHA gladly accepts applications from students
wishing to transfer from their current high school to Sacred
Heart Academy. For those students in grades 10 – 12
who are wishing to transfer, applications should be completed
and returned to the Admissions Office as soon as possible.
Please note that only students with cumulative high school
averages of 85% or higher will be considered for admission
to SHA.
Acceptance letters are mailed with registration
information during the third week of January. Scholarship
notification accompanies the acceptance letter.
