Admissions FAQ

My daughter doesn’t test well, what else do you consider for admissions?

If your daughter is entering as a freshwomen, we look at her elementary school grades, past standardized testing, teacher recommendations, as well as her scores on the Entrance Exam.

What are the financial obligations at SHA beyond tuition?

Other fees depending on your daughter’s involvement include a music fee ($250), sports fee (generally $75 per sport) and AP testing fees. In addition, your daughter is expected to raise money for the annual walkathon and sell raffle tickets for the annual Gala. SHA also invites voluntary gifts to the Annual Fund, which support the day to day operations of the school and are tax-deductible.

How can I arrange for my daughter to visit for a day?

We feel that the best experience for your daughter is to spend a day at SHA during the fall of her 8th grade year. To arrange a visit, please call the Admissions Office at 834-2101 x311.

Do you accept transfer students?

Yes. Students transferring in must have an 85 or higher average. In addition, we review transcripts and request teacher recommendations before making a decision.

What is the annual cost of attending Sacred Heart?

Tuition for the 2007-2008 academic year is $7430.

Can I expect to pay book fees?

There is a general fee of $250.00 charged to all accounts. This fee covers the cost of consumable materials such as art supplies, lab supplies, vocabulary books, lab manuals, magazines, and Regents review books. This fee also covers the cost of the yearbook and the annual Parent Guild dues.

Are there payment plans available?

How can our family afford a SHA education?

Scholarships
SHA offers a significant number of scholarships to incoming 9th graders. Students who select SHA as their first choice school may apply for scholarships after taking the entrance exam in November.
Financial Aid
SHA also offers financial aid to qualifying students. Families seeking assistance complete a financial aid application each year either on paper or online at http://www.fairapp.com. Financial aid forms are mailed to parents of all students registered to sit for the entrance exam in November. Incoming 9th graders apply by December 1 of each year; returning students apply by April 1.
Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
TAP workers are engaged in various “light” duties before, during, or after school. Examples of TAP assignments include filing, preparing mailings, dusting, data input, and assisting in the library. TAP earnings of $6.00 per hour are applied to a student’s tuition account. A student’s tasks are assigned according to her talents and the school’s needs.
