Catholic High School Entrance Exam Preparation Course

October 18 - November 8, 2014: 9 am - noon for 4 consecutive Saturdays 

This course familiarizes eighth grade girls with the content and structure of the examination and reviews mathematics, reading comprehension, grammar and vocabulary.  The cost is $100 and includes Peterson’s Catholic High School Entrance Exam Practice Book.

 

Mother-Daughter Book Club for Girls in Grades 4 and 5 or 6 and 7

Girls in Grades 4 and 5 (and mothers): 2-3:30 pm on October 19, December 7, February 22, May 3

Girls in Grades 6 and 7 (and mothers): 2-3:30 pm on November 2, January 11, March 1, April 26

Sue Reiser Daniels will be the 4th and 5th grade moderator.  Lyn Biniszkiewicz will be the 6th and 7th grade moderator.  This club is free, but enrollment is limited to ten girls for each club.

 

After School Science Club for Girls in Grades 5, 6, or 7 led by Melanie Whitney, SHA Biology Teacher

12 Mondays from 3:15-4:45 pm: October 27, November 17, December 8, January 5, January 26, February 9, March 2, March 16, March 30, April 13, May 11, May 18

This is a lab-based science club where girls will learn major concepts in science in a fun and engaging way.  The cost to participate is $125 per student which will include 12 sessions, lab materials, and a snack during each session.

Saturday, March 14, 2015 - 9 am to 12 noon

This is a great opportunity to become familiar with the format of the Catholic High School Entrance Exam which will be offered to 8th graders in November 2015.  Girls will take all five sections in a test environment and receive detailed written results.  Practice test is open to 7th grade girls only.

 

S.H.I.N.E. (She Has Inner Natural Excellence)

Sunday, April 26, 2015 - 1 pm to 4 pm

Spend an afternoon interacting with your daughter in a meaningful and positive way while engaging in a variety of fun activities.  The event will feature workshops in communication, movement, mindfulness, and goal setting.  This is a workshop for mothers and daughters in Grades 4 - 7.

Cost: $20 per family

 

Field Hockey Clinic

Saturday, May 2, 2015 - 9 am to 12 noon

Learn how to play one of the fastest growing sports for girls in Western New York.  This three-hour hands-on workshop presented by Linda Groff-Mroz (SHA Varsity Field Hockey Coach) will give girls the basic knowledge of field hockey and stick handling.  No experience or equipment needed.

Cost: FREE

 

Lacrosse Clinic

Saturday, May 9, 2015 - 9 am to 12 noon

Learn how to play one of the fastest growing sports for girls in Western New York.  This three-hour hands-on workshop presented by Linda Groff-Mroz (SHA Varsity Lacrosse Coach) will give girls the basic knowledge of lacrosse and stick handling.  Girls will learn from coaches and players from the 2013 and 2014 Monsignor Martin League Championship teams. No experience or equipment needed.

Summerspace

June 29 - July 31, 2015          

Grades 5-8 (as of September, 2015) &
Registered SHA Freshwomen for 2015-2016

Each summer, SHA offers weeklong morning and afternoon half-day camps in a wide range of themes.  Camps are packed with interesting information, fun activities, engaging experiments, and adventurous field trips.  Summerspace is a great way to socialize with other girls who share similar interests.  Past themes include art, forensics, crafts, lacrosse, cheerleading, science, service camp, fit camp, digital art, volleyball, drama, and music.  A preparation course for the Catholic High School Entrance Examination and Leadership Camp are offered for girls entering eighth grade, only. 

*** Note: The ORIGINAL July 13-17 Fashion Design and Sketching Camp is full.  An additional camp week has been added July 27-31 from 9 am - 12 noon. ***
