Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart
Welcome to Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart, a private Catholic high school that has been educating young women in the Franciscan tradition since 1877. Founded by the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity, our Academy community includes a student body of approximately 500 unique young women, more than 85 dedicated faculty and staff members, supportive parents, and many thousands of loyal alumnae. We are located on a beautiful campus with an architecturally stunning, historically designated building that is impeccably maintained and updated with the latest equipment and technology. In 2012 we introduced nine new classrooms in our Sisters of St. Francis Academic Wing, formerly convent space for our sisters. In 2014, we introduced our new Athletic Center with state-of-the-art gymnasium, fitness center, and dance studio.
Sacred Heart Academy provides a stimulating learning environment that focuses on developing each student’s spirit, mind, and body. Service to the community and leadership development are key features of Sacred Heart Academy, and are implemented through our Footprints Service Program and Leadership Studies Program. Our rigorous academic courses prepare young women to succeed in college and beyond. In addition to the core curriculum, our instruction emphasizes inquiry and exploration, intellectual openness, critical thinking, problem solving, and research and writing skills. In 2014, our 1:1 iPad Program was introduced further enhancing instructional tools and student learning. Award-winning visual and performing arts and music programs, strong athletics, and diverse extracurricular clubs broaden the offerings to our students.
