Bowling JV -- First Place 2007-08
On November 13 SHA's Varsity Team won 3-1/2 games to Immaculata's 1/2 game. Immaculata's anchor bowler had 3 strikes in the tenth frame to clinch a tie with Sacred Heart in the first game with both teams recording 601 pins. The Lady Sharks took the second game by just 5 pins. However, Katelyn Kaiser's 198 game propelled SHA to a 74 pin victory in game three (683 to 609). Senior Macy Cambio bowled a consistent 483 set. SHA's JV Team lost to Immaculata 0-4. All 4 bowlers are first time league bowlers. Coach Ken McKinnon has strong expectations of improvement in the weeks to come, especially for the freshwomen.
On November 18 the Varsity girls got out the brooms and swept Nichols in 4 games. The Lady Sharks bowled 301 pins less this time than they did on November 13, but no matter - they won all four. Macy Cambio and Katelyn Kaiser tied with three game sets of 451. Macy had a high game of 174, and Katelyn had a high game of 181. Emily Mrozinski improved through the evening, which was needed for the very close third game. Gina Pawlowski continued her steady game. The JV Team continues their improvement as they won the first two games against Nichols. They lost their third game by almost 80 pins, allowing Nichols to take total score by only 8 pins. Annie Rose Kostrzewski rolled a 118 while Kelsey Killian knocked down 127 pins in the first game to set up a solid lead. Emilie Kovacs continued her steady improvement and bowled a 110 in the second game, making the difference in their 17 pin victory. Erin Bellitto bowled a nice 121 in the third game, but Nichols rallied with four games in the 100's to take a very deserved win.
On November 20 the Varsity squad ran into a buzz saw named "Nardin" whose top bowler Teresa Ricotta rolled games of 236, 248, and 204 for a 688 set. SHA's own Macy Cambio bowled a 225 in her third game enroute to a 594 pin total while Gina Pawlowski bowled a season high 162 -- enough to give the Lady Sharks the third game by a mere 15 points. The JV Team hit a bump in the road playing against Nardin, losing all 4 games. On November 25 both the Varsity and JV squads went down in defeat to Mt. St. Mary, losing all 4 games. On December 16, the Varsity squad swept Holy Angels with all SHA bowlers doing well, but the BIG story was Senior Macy Cambio's 12 strikes in a row in her third game on her way to a new league high of 298. Macy almost had a perfect 300 game -- something every bowler dreams about achieving. She left 2 pins standing on her third ball in the tenth frame. Other leagues stopped by to watch Macy bowl with the crowd growing to over 50 people, all applauding with every strike in the 9th and 10th frames. Macy's parents were on hand to see her historic game and to share in the excitement. Macy Cambio The JV Team lost all four games to league leading Holy Angels, but SHA came within 20 pins of winning the first game. Emilie Kovacs picked up the not-so-easy 3-7-10 split.
